This was a fun shoot in Anna Maria Island.

Who knew you could surf in Anna Maria?
I didn't have to travel far for this shoot as it was right here in Anna Maria Island.

Anna Maria Island is a destination wedding hot spot.  There are so many options for brides, from the simple to elaborate. A simple wedding on the beach  with an officiant is very affordable option for brides on a budget.  Who doesn't like the sound of the waves lapping on the shore and of course the sunset photos are divine. Congratulations to Jenny and Chris on their marriage on 9/3/2016.

Posing Tips For Women

Avoid Neck creases and double chins

o Turn upper body and shoulder (the one closest to you) more towards camera

Opens up that area and minimizes the creases,

o Use hair to strategically hide the creases.

o  Lean upper body slightly toward camera and stick neck out

Don't Shoot shoulders square on

o Shoulders are the widest part of the body, flatter the wide parts of bodies  angling  the shoulders slightly.

Straight joints

o “If it bends, then bend it.” Straight arms, legs, head, and torsos generally look stiff and unflattering. Bend arms slightly at the elbow, tilt the head, lean slightly forward at the waist, relax the fingers, and bend a knee(s).

Avoid Awkward and unflattering standing poses

o Women are often a bit self conscious of half and full body shots. Stand slightly angled to the camera

o  Foot that is nearest to the camera is toward the camera

o  Weight is shifted to the back hip, putting the knees, hips, and shoulders at a pleasing angle

o  Then SLIGHTLY bend forward at the waist to minimize and flatter upper body features and chin area.  Most women tend to lean away from the camera instinctively. Always lean towards, not away from the camera.

Do not have Arms glued to body

o  Slightly bend  arms at the elbow and pull them away from the body by putting them on hips, holding an object (bouquet, piece of her clothing, someone’s hand, etc), placing in front or back pockets, clasping behind back, resting against a wall, or putting arms overhead.

Posing Men

Tip head slightly up or slightly down to show confidence, legs apart whether sitting or standing, shoulders square to the camera to make subject look larger and more masculine,  folding arms across chest, and putting hands in pockets.

I am often asked what inspires me. Everything  Everwhere!  I have always carried a camera. Even though I work as a photographer, I have my camera with me on vacation and love, love, love to take photos. My favorite style is a photojournalistic style that tells a story with the photos.  I want to see true emotions.

Look for more information about my style, ideas, shared secrets, inspiration and more in the weeks to come. I've been known to snap at anything anytime, so beware!  Til next time, Sherri Proctor, Sherri's island Images Photography
